Our client, a spacecraft development and support company is currently is seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer – Space Systems to join their team in Greenbelt, MD.

Role/Responsibilities:

A Senior Electrical Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring that systems requirements are achieved. S/He is responsible for leading overall spacecraft electrical interface design and coordination with other mission segments (ground, operations, etc.) during development integration and test planning necessary to verify that system requirements have been realized.  The Senior Space Electrical Systems Engineer provides technical direction for the definition and development of a system or subsystem requirements and guidance on electrical engineering analyses, design, development, test and troubleshooting, including:

  • Providing engineering support to complex and/or technologically challenging electrical, electronic, and system issues.
  • Providing guidance to Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) during project implementation.
  • Conducting technology assessments and making recommendations for technology insertions.
  • Generating requirements, specifications, ICDs, analyses, and test plans.
  • Reviewing documentation, attending reviews, resolving issues, and reporting results.
  • Making trade study assessments and recommendations.
  • Supporting CDR, PDR, and other program reviews, and reviewing deliverables.
  • Providing technical consultation advice to project managers regarding design issues, development and test approaches, and test result assessments.
  • Leading teams established by the project manager to conduct investigations of programmatic or technical problems and to make recommendations for recovery plans.

Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent education and experience, in Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Sciences from an accredited institution.
  • The candidate must have 15 or more years of spacecraft design and development experience including at least 10 years of experience analyzing system requirements, developing functional performance requirements, and allocating those requirements to the system elements.
  • The candidate must have a solid understanding of space hardware, electrical, electronic and mechanical systems design.  Areas to include AC, DC, RF, Analog, Digital, and High Voltage systems.
  • The candidate must be able to review and understand detailed circuits and analysis.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with a diverse group of contractor and Government.
  • The candidate must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate should also be very adaptable to change.
  • The candidate must meet government NAC and US citizenship/work permit requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Adherence to Nondisclosure Agreement(s) for review of contractor proprietary information will be required.
  • Eligible for a US DOD Secret clearance with an existing Top Secret desirable.
